Family cooking classes can be a fun and educational way to educate and entice your whole brood to cook together in the kitchen. Dishes range from Colorful art-themed preparations to storybook favorites
The curriculum is tailored to every family's abilities and tastebuds.
Our personal favorite is the candy sushi, sure to be a crowd-pleaser for even the shyest cook in the family.

30 Minute Lesson
Families work with Cricket to select a recipe from The Creative Kitchen’s collection in advance of class. A list of ingredients and related equipment is provided prior to the customized session. Class instruction will be tailored to suit family-specific participant ages and abilities. Class is scheduled for a mutually agreed upon date and time.
60 Minute Lesson
Families work with Cricket to select two recipes to create a complete meal, choosing an appetizer and entree or entree and dessert from The Creative Kitchen’s collection, in advance of class. A list of ingredients and related equipment is provided prior to the customized session. Class instruction will be tailored to suit family-specific participant ages and abilities. Class is scheduled for a mutually agreed upon date and time.
About the Founder
Cricket Azima is a dynamic professional chef who specializes in cooking for and with children. She is the Big Cheese of The Creative Kitchen - a company that teaches children and families through food and cooking, founded in 2001. Her children’s book, Everybody Eats Lunch, is one part cookbook, one part toy, and one part travel adventure. Cricket also developed Everybody Can Cook, a curricula for the special needs community, featuring adaptations for various physical and developmental abilities. Cricket coauthored The Happy Family Organic Superfoods Cookbook for Baby & Toddler. In addition to classes and events, The Creative Kitchen also produces the Kids Food Festival, a series of large format food events, programmed with the assistance of the James Beard Foundation, that educates families on how to make balanced food choices through fun and engaging activities. She works with a variety of food companies, offering services including spokesperson, recipe development and testing, freelance writing, teaching, family outreach, blogging, creating webisodes, special events, and consulting. Cricket has a professional culinary degree from The Institute of Culinary Education, and developed her teaching philosophy while pursuing her Master's degree in Food Studies and Food Management at New York University (NYU).
